How to Maintain Tropical Hardwoods
1. Sweep debris often and wash the deck once or twice a year with a hardwood-safe cleaner.
2. Keep airflow under the deck and avoid rugs, planters, or furniture that trap moisture.
3. Wipe spills quickly and inspect boards and fasteners yearly.
4. Before oiling, clean with a tropical hardwood cleaner and let dry 24–48 hours.
5. Apply a thin coat of UV-protectant oil (Penofin, Ipe Oil, or Cutek) with a 3/8″ roller and wipe excess after 20 minutes.
6. Let dry 24–48 hours and reapply every 6–12 months based on sun and traffic.
7. Dispose of oil-soaked rags safely in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
