As you are about to find out, though, there are so many things you should first consider before installing an IPE fence. Read on to learn more!

Ipe Fence: The Ultimate Choice for Long-Lasting Privacy

Consider These Factors Before Installing An IPE Fence

1. IPE Fence is Both Durable And Pricey

IPE stands out as one of the most durable fencing materials today. It is easy to understand why. First off, IPE decks are made of extremely dense type of wood. This means it is fire-resistant. Then there is the fact that IPE is rot-proof. It is also resistant to animal and insect damage. With all these perks, it doesn’t come as a surprise that IPE is somewhat costly. One has to look at the bigger picture, which boils down to the fact that your IPE fence will stand strong for as many as 30 years or even more without needing replacement. You may have to set aside at least $23,500 for a 20 by 30-foot backyard.

2. Cedar’s Price Has Gone Up

There has always been a huge demand for cedar as far as fencing is concerned. Its price has gone up by as much as 40% since 2017. This has a lot to do with tariffs that come along with lumber imports. Keep in mind though that rates always vary depending on factors such as your location and even choice of installer. All other things being constant and equal, a cedar fence will cost you as much as $25 per square foot, while IPE will cost you $32.  These are rates for yards that are graded and cleared. Either way, IPE still stands out as the better option here mostly because of how durable it is.

3. Prep Work

You have no choice here. Prep work is mandatory if you’re to end up with an aesthetically appealing IPE fence. You’ll need to re-grade specific areas, or you may have to consider some structural work to shore up stretches that are susceptible to erosion before you can set up a fence. Get a quote if you have to. Avoid making a comparison to figures with the house next door. Every yard is different. Some are filled with weedy trees and debris, which must first be removed. Others are simple and only need an upgraded garden and a replacement fence.

4. Horizontal Fence Always Wins

There was a time when picket and vertical fencing were extremely popular. Then came horizontal plank fences, and everything changed.  Now everyone’s going horizontal. There is also this common rule when it comes to fencing. Everything prefabricated will most likely be vertical, and everything horizontal will most likely be custom-made. So yeah, horizontal all the way, especially if all you want is a pleasant-looking IPE fence. It may cost you slightly more compared to other fencing options. It’ll be worth it at the end of the day.
